Bristol Bay Sportfishing
Alaska Salmon & Trout

Travel
Bristol Bay Sportfishing’s lodge is located 190 miles southwest of Anchorage. Air service between Anchorage and Iliamna is provided by PenAir, an Alaska Airlines partner, for reservations call 1-800-448-4226. Iliamna Air Taxi is also a Bristol Bay Sportfishing regular schedule partner serving Iliamna for over 25 years; please call Nancy at 907-571-1248 for reservations.

Beautiful Scenic Alaska

Once you arrive in Iliamna our staff will meet you at the airport and provide transportation to the lodge. Guest who are flying their own aircraft to Iliamna will find Iliamna airport capable of handling both reciprocating and jet aircraft. Internet based travel services and your local travel agents can easily help you with your reservations to and from Anchorage. You may wish to tour Anchorage for a day or two, and some flight connection schedules will necessitate an overnight stay in Anchorage.

Most airlines allow you to check two bags, plus your rod case, without additional charges. They may charge you an additional bag fee for your fish on the return flight. Your fish are packaged in waxed, airlines approved containers and will travel with you as baggage. If you have to overnight on your return trip, most hotels in Anchorage will store your fish in their freezers for the night. Also, there is freezer storage at the Anchorage Airport. Since the “911” incident airlines are getting much more restrictive with baggage, please check with your specific carrier for weight and carry-on limitations. All carriers have different regulations with respect to baggage.

Travel with your camera gear, reels and flies, included in your carry-on luggage. Please try to use soft, duffel-type luggage if possible. It packs easier in the float planes. Carry a few large plastic bags, or TFS Wader Briefcases for storing your wet clothing and wading gear, for the return flight home. In the unlikely event of a family emergency, be sure to leave the number of your hotel in Anchorage, and the number of the lodge with your staff and/or family.

Bruce, your hospitality could not have been any better. The care and time you took with each and every guest was outstanding. The fishing was incredible and it was especially impressive to see how well organized you were throughout the days events. Bonnie, we ate like Kings at every meal, thank you for all the time and preparation put forth to insure we had the very best!

Having never been to Alaska before, I did not know what to expect, but you certainly exceeded my expectations. Everyone in our group was impressed with the attentiveness of your staff and the operational efficiency of the equipment. Certainly the variety of fishing is something I had not expected. The food, camaraderie, accommodations and everything else were extraordinary!

President George Bush Sr.
While every precious memory is fresh in my mind , I want to try to tell you both how grateful I am to you for your fantastic hospitality. The food, the fishing and plane rides were awesome.

Everything about Bruce and Bonnie Johnson’s Bristol Bay Sportfishing is absolutely first rate. The lodge is splendid, the food 4 stars, and the overall ambience of all we did was beyond comparison. And then there was the fishing….incredible rainbows and silvers. It would be hard to top this experience and I haven’t even mentioned the bears and other wildlife…
