Kasba
Lake Lodge
Canadian Fishing
at it's Best! |
|
The
sun rises in the east, awakening the guests of Kasba Lake Lodge.
The camp with its eastern exposure welcomes the invitation to
start another day of fishing. Your morning begins at 7 AM with a
cheerful "Good Morning" and hot coffee delivered to your
cabin. A hot shower and you're off to the main lodge for
breakfast. Hot and cold cereal is served daily as well as the
featured breakfast, juice, coffee or tea. |
|
 |
Back to the matter at
hand, you set the strategy, consult with the guide. Where to go?
What lure? Trout, Pike or Grayling, today? Troll, cast, jig, so
many decisions! The only interruption to your fishing is probably what many
consider the highlight. Your guide will prepare your fresh catch
for a delicious lunch on shore. There isn't much better than fresh
fish over an open fire. Then it is back on the lake for some more
fabulous fishing. |
|
Around
6 PM you return from the lake for that much needed shower and
perhaps a cocktail. Or, if you're reluctant to give up that
favorite fishing hole so early, you can opt for a late supper. The
dining room is open for dinner at 7 PM. Our friendly and courteous
support staff is eager to serve you the featured dinner menu.
Soup, salad, entree and choice of dessert to top off another great
day of fishing. The
rest of the evening is up to you. You may go out and continue
fishing or spend the
evening relaxing with friends.
Our fishing guides have a working knowledge of the sports species
you'll be pursuing. The knowledge and experience these people have
of the local hydrology, entomology, and angling technique,
compliment all parameters of your fishing vacation. |

The
Fishing at Kasba Lake Lodge
Kasba
Lake is only free of ice a few months each year.
This means that the fish are very active during the 10 week
season. Northern Pike
spawn very early in the season.
At this time of year the Pike are in the streams and
shallow bays. After
they spawn they become very active, looking for feed.
As the summer warms the shallow bays up the large Pike can
be spotted lying in the weeds and just off the bottom.
This is the time of year for sight fishing.
In Roland Martin’s recent film at Kasba Lake Lodge on
sight fishing for Pike he found and caught many 40 to 48 inch Pike
using this method. This
is very exciting fishing.
As
you pole around a shallow bay you can virtually pick out your Pike
and entice him onto your line.
With a large splash and speeding wake you will find
yourself battling a monster Pike.
Later on in the season the Pike move to the mouth of the
bays preparing for the up-coming winter months.

 |
Due
to the colder waters in the main lake the Lake Trout are taken
near the surface all summer.
Kasba Lake has many reefs and islands throughout its 1,500
square miles. The
bottom is mainly rocky giving lots of hiding places for baitfish.
During the early part of the season Lake Trout of all sizes
can be caught by trolling very near the shoreline or casting into
the shore. Fish up to
30 lbs. have been caught right up in the rocks.
As the water warms up the Trout move to the rocky points
and reefs. Lake Trout
can be caught in large numbers by trolling, casting or fly
fishing.
|
During the mid summer season when the baitfish are
schooling, numerous Lake Trout can be taken on floating lures.
This is very exciting as the Trout thrash on the surface
attacking your lure. By the end of the season the Trout are looking for the
shallow rocky shore again to spawn.
They are very aggressive during this time protecting their
territory.
The
world famous Kazan River harbors some of the largest Arctic
Grayling in the world.
Because
Kasba Lake is the headwaters of the Kazan this is the best place
to find the sail fish of the north.
Arctic Grayling can be caught on flies or small spinners
and jigs. The
Grayling live in the fast water of the Kazan in the rapids. After anchoring the boat in the rapids it is easy to cast for
these acrobatic fish.
Kasba
Lake Lodge is famous for all 3 species of fish, Northern Pike,
Lake Trout & Arctic Grayling.
Each year over 65,000 fish are caught and released.
Lake Trout, Northern Pike and Arctic Grayling can be caught
using spinning, bait casting or fly fishing gear.
