Bass Fishing at Lake Baccarac Lodge

Lake Baccarac Lodge September, 2012 - Fishing seems to be pretty challenging over the last week. The bass are very scattered and holding in 14 to 18 feet of water. Big crank baits are working but medium ones are working much better. We are having good success using Storm Wild Eyed 5 inch in mullet and tilapia color. We continue to have rain. Lake Baccarac is near 60 percent. This time last year at its most full level, it was only 40 percent. My guess is, that by October 1st, the lake will be over 70 percent full. We will not have any more reports until the first week in October. Back to Main Site

Tropic Star Lodge Report

Tropic Star Lodge The billfish action has been good although it had slowed somewhat over the past few days. The good news is that there some really big fish around. The Black Marlin are averaging 500 lbs and Blue Marlin around 400 lbs. Sailfish have been showing up sporadically but it’s safe to say that most of them have left the area but the ones that we call ‘residents’ are big, in the 100-130 lb range. There’s also a good Yellowfin Tuna bite going on offshore and we catching some decent sized fish in the 50-100 lb range. Roosterfish are still abundant inshore and one boat released 9 in just over three hours fishing.

Crocodile Bay Lodge Costa Rica Fishing Report

Crocodile Bay Lodge Andrew and Brittany Rico fished on one boat and Casey McCartin fished by himself on the other. In the course of the day the three anglers raised 13 marlin. McCartin landed the biggest fish, a 450 lb black marlin that two hours into the fight tail wrapped. Fortunately the fish was able to be released unharmed. He had two more hooked up. One that ate a small tuna he was reeling in that melted his spinning tackle and another that broke off. Back to Main Site

Patagonia

"Today was a great day in Villa Maria Lodge, we caught a monster seatrout of 28 pounds! the fish was caught bythe happy angler Bolli Kristinson from Iceland. They decided to take it easy so we left the lodge at 10:00 am and arrived to our first pool at 10:30. Both started with Sunray Shadow. In the second cast Gusti hooked a nice fish and while i was about to net the fish, Bolli hooked his fish. Nice fish? i said. Yeah nice one, 18/20 pounds he said.
